Ogdensburg Harbor Light, NY~2003

Standing at the confluence of the Oswegatchie and St. Lawrence Rivers, this privately owned light was erected in 1900.  The original 1-1/2 story cut-stone house and  65 foot tower are still in good condition. It sits on Lighthouse Point, directly opposite the United States Customs House, the oldest federal building in active use in the US. The light is easily visible from a city park on the opposite side of the Oswegatchie. The lighthouse will soon share the point with a replica of Fort La Presentation (the French name for the Oswegatchie), the first permanent settlement in northern New York State.
