One hiker thought this formation in the gorge walls resembled the head of a man, perhaps Lucifer, himself.
A view of Lucifer falls from an overlook at the top of the "steep stairs" leading to the bottom of the gorge.
At the bottom of Lucifer, to the right, is an alcove known as the Devil's Kitchen. Lore has it that raucous visitors to this falls during pioneer days gave the alcove and the falls their names.
