Historic Harpersfield
On the outskirts of town stands a marker, commemorating the organization of the town just after the end of the revolutionary war. The valley had been settled in the early part of the century, however, by a group of Harpers and a few other hardy souls, to harvest maple syrup. They referred to the town as "the bush" (Jay Gould, History of Delaware County).
