Barcelona Lighthouse, Barcelona NY ~ 2004
Completed in May 1829 then decommissioned in 1859 because Barcelona didn't actually have a harbor, this light was originally illuminated by oil and natural gas. Today the light is privately owned and is lit by a gas lamp maintained by its owner and the town of Westfield.
The light is viewable from the right-of-way on Route 5 in Barcelona, a view blocked mostly by trees, or from the pier of a nearby marina. This view is from the marina, looking back on the mainland.
