To reach the base of Angel Falls requires a strenuous hike along the edges and a rigorous climb down the steep sides of Bear Swamp Creek gorge. The falls are approximately 70' in total height. Among the rocks in the creekbed are thousands of fossils, including "angel" or moth-like impressions of brachiopods.
