On Saturday, July 7, 2001, a flotilla of boats celebrated the dedication of the restored Shoal Point Lighthouse. After securing a 99 year lease and funds to rebuild the seawall on the shoreline from property owner Helen Severinghaus, the Fourth Lake Property Owners' Association led efforts to rebuild the light. Funds were provided by friends of the lighthouse and the State of New York, and work was completed by local contractor Pete Bishop.

Now fully automated, with an electric eye that starts a rotating airport landing beacon at dusk, the light will protect boaters and delight tourists.
